N.P.K. Rajamanickam Study Award

Mr N.P.K. Rajamanickam, whom the study award is established in memory of.

The N.P. K. Rajamanickam Study Award was established to provide annual financial aid to deserving Singaporean students pursuing their studies at the Yale-NUS College.

The Award was set up in memory of Mr N.P.K. Rajamanickam, an astrologer who was highly respected not only by Singaporeans but also by non-Singaporeans who consulted him. Mr Rajamanickam was a strong supporter of educational causes and firmly believed in assisting those in need of financial assistance for this purpose. He died at the age of 84 on 21 November 2004.

Born in Tamil Nadu, Mr Rajamanickam arrived in Singapore in 1938 at the age of 18. Self-taught, he began his astrology practice soon after arriving in Singapore. He established his office at Ceylon Road in 1942 which remained his office until he passed away.  Mr Rajamanickam also supported the local Indian Community in many ways. From 1956 to 1999, he contributed a free weekly forecast every Sunday in Tamil to the local Tamil newspaper Tamil Murasu.
